Dr Emma Veale, Senior Research Fellow at Medway School of Pharmacology at the University of Kent, has been awarded the prestigious Industry Fellowship from The Royal Society, sponsored by Metrion.
The RS Industry Fellowship is a highly regarded initiative that promotes collaboration between academia and industry by enabling talented researchers to work across both sectors. The program supports professional development, fosters knowledge exchange, and encourages the formation of long-term scientific, personal, and corporate partnerships.
Over the next four years (the duration of the Industry Fellowship) Emma will focus on the investigation of K2P (two-pore domain potassium) channels as potential drug targets, with a particular emphasis on pain research. Her work will harness Metrion’s expertise in pain physiology and ion channel screening technologies to explore K2P channel biology. In addition, she will develop novel assays using pharmacological tools to further advance understanding in this important area of ion channel biology.
“We’re delighted to work with Emma and look forward to combining her extensive knowledge of K2P channel biology with Metrion’s ion channel discovery knowledge”, commented Dr Eddy Stevens, CSO at Metrion.
“I am extremely grateful to The Royal Society for awarding me a full Industry Fellowship. A huge thank you also to my industrial sponsors Metrion Biosciences, especially Eddy Stevens, for their continued support”, commented Dr Emma Veale, Senior Research Fellow at Medway School of Pharmacology.
We are proud to support Emma in this exciting research journey and look forward to the outcomes of this impactful academic-industry partnership.
